Many of our patients choose to undergo heat therapy and cryotherapy to help them manage acute or chronic pain. Others will choose it to complement and enhance the physiotherapy [Nevada clinics]/physical medicine modalities and therapeutic procedures (PMMTP) [Arizona clinics] and chiropractic care.

Heat therapy also referred to as thermotherapy, is the use and application of heat to enhance one’s health and relieve pain. This type of therapy can take many forms, such as hot water, hot cloths, heating pads, and Cordless FIR heat therapy wraps. Heat therapy tends to prove quite beneficial for those suffering from arthritis, deep tissue injuries, and stiff muscles.

R&R TIP: Some of the therapeutic benefits of heat therapy include pain relief, an increase in the extensibility of collagen tissues, muscle spasm relief, an increase in blood flow, and a decrease in joint stiffness.

Cryotherapy, or cold therapy, refers to the exposure of either part of the body or the entire body to cold temperatures. Typically, cryotherapy involves the use of man-induced subzero temperatures. Cryotherapy may help decrease inflammation, decrease muscles, spasms, reduce pain and increase the survival of cells.

R&R TIP: Since cryotherapy is not invasive; many people opt to undergo cold therapy in order to speed up their recovery from a disease, illness, or injury.
